(A6P) Aromatherapy - Energize Roll-On Design

  1. Competition Objective

This competition evaluates participants’ skills in fragrance layering, aromatherapy techniques, and creative expression by designing and blending an office-focused energizing roll-on essential oil. The submitted work must cater to office environments and create a high-quality aromatherapy formula that enhances focus and revitalizes energy.

  1. Scoring Criteria
  • Fragrance Layering and Balance: Clear differentiation and harmony among top, middle, and base notes, smooth transitions, and overall coherence.
  • Blending Precision and Technical Performance: Accurate ratios of essential oils to carrier oils, adherence to blending standards, and consistency and stability of the fragrance.
  • Creativity and Expression: Alignment of the formula theme with the office-energizing concept, functionality of the amber roll-on bottle and diffuser stone, and completeness and clarity of the formula description.

  1. Competition Rules

(1) Roll-On Essential Oil Formulation Rules

  1. Essential Oil Usage Standards:
  • The fragrance component must consist of 100% pure natural essential oils, with no artificial fragrances or non-natural ingredients.
  • Participants may freely select the types and quantities of essential oils but must ensure a complete fragrance structure with top, middle, and base notes.
  1. Roll-On Essential Oil Concentration
  • The total essential oil concentration must be maintained between 3%-5% to ensure safety and efficacy.
  • The carrier oil must be a natural plant-based oil (e.g., sweet almond oil, grapeseed oil, coconut oil).
  1. Fragrance Layering:
  • Top Notes (15%-30%): Light and fresh initial impressions of the fragrance.
  • Middle Notes (30%-50%): Core fragrance notes that promote energy and focus.
  • Base Notes (20%-40%): Provide lasting depth and stabilize the overall fragrance.
  1. Blending and Maturation:
  • Essential oils and carrier oils must be thoroughly mixed. Once blended, the formulation should rest for 24-48 hours to ensure even fragrance distribution and optimal effectiveness.

(2) Roll-On Bottle and Diffuser Stone Design Guidelines

  1. Roll-On Bottle Requirements
  • Bottles must have a 10mL capacity and be made of amber glass for light protection and stability.
  • Rollers must be made of stainless steel to ensure smooth application.
  1. Diffuser Stone
  • The organizer will provide diffuser stones, sized between 5-7cm in diameter, made from ceramic or plaster material with strong absorption capabilities for stable diffusion of the essential oil fragrance.
  • Each entry will be paired with a diffuser stone labeled with the participant’s number for evaluation.

  1. Competition Process

(1) Pre-Competition Preparation

  1. Submission of Entries
  • Participants must submit their roll-on essential oil and formula description to the designated location at least 1 hour before the competition begins.

(2) Display and Judging Process

  1. Display of Entries:
  • The organizer will arrange entries and formula descriptions based on participant numbers. Staff will extract a small amount of the roll-on oil (approximately 0.05-0.1mL) and evenly apply it to the diffuser stone surface.
  • Judges will evaluate the entries by smelling the diffuser stones based on the established criteria. Participants are not required to perform any on-site operations, as the assessment will be based on submitted entries.

(3) Retrieval of Entries

  1. Collection After Judging:
  • Participants may collect their entries at the designated location by 5:00 PM on the competition day.
  • Participants must present their entry numbers for identification. Any unclaimed entries will be handled by the organizer.

  1. Formula Description Requirements
  • Printing Standards: Formula descriptions must be printed on A4 paper, with clear and complete content.
  • Content Requirements: Templates can be found in the appendix of the rules document.
