Formula Description Template
(A5P) Aromatherapy - Energy Awakening – Seven Elements Energy Perfume Blending
● Objective
Inspired by the Seven Energy Elements — Fire, Earth, Wind, Water, Metal, Wood, and Aether (Light), participants are required to create a perfumery work that combines aromatherapy energy concepts × fragrance art design.
The work should express “Energy Awakening through Scent” — making fragrance a medium for healing, transformation, and self-awareness.
Participants are free to interpret the characteristics of one or more elements, using the layers of scent (flowers, fruits, herbs, woods, resins, roots, essential oils), color imagery, and bottle design to convey the beauty of energy balance.
● Competition Format
Category: Pre-made Finished Product Display (Not made on-site)
Participants must complete their works before the competition and arrange/display them on-site.
● Work Specifications
Content: Energy aromatic oil (roller bottle)
Quantity: 1–2 main bottles
Theme Inspiration: Awakening of the Seven Elements Energy
Essential Oils: 4–6 pure essential oils, with the symbolic meaning of each oil explained
Attachment: One A4 explanation card (must include the following):
Fragrance structure (top, middle, base notes)
Element interpretation and energy imagery
Creative concept and theme
Formula ratios and aromatherapy significance
Each work must have a name and an energy theme
● Disqualification Rules
Not created by the participant, made by others, or plagiarized
Use of artificial fragrance or non-natural ingredients, not complying with aromatherapy principles
Missing explanation card or lacking theme and energy description
Improper packaging, damaged or incomplete display, or safety concerns
Display area is messy, untidy, or visually uncoordinated

(A5P) Aromatherapy - Lullaby Roll-On Design
- Competition Objective
This competition evaluates participants’ comprehensive skills in designing fragrance layers, applying aromatherapy techniques, and showcasing creative expression through the formulation of a home sleep-aid roll-on essential oil. Participants are required to design a high-quality personalized aromatherapy formula with proven sleep-enhancing benefits tailored to real-life scenarios.
- Scoring Criteria
- Fragrance Layering and Balance: Distinctiveness and harmony of the top, middle, and base notes, smoothness of transitions, and overall coherence.
- Blending Precision and Technical Performance: Accuracy in the proportion of essential oils and carrier oils, adherence to blending standards, and consistency and stability of the fragrance.
- Creativity and Expression: Relevance of the formula theme to the sleep-aid purpose, functionality of the amber roll-on bottle and diffuser stone, and completeness and clarity of the formula description.
- Competition Rules
(1) Roll-On Essential Oil Formulation Rules
- Essential Oil Usage Standards:
- The fragrance component must consist of 100% pure natural essential oils, with no artificial fragrances or non-natural ingredients.
- Participants may freely select the types and quantities of essential oils but must ensure a complete fragrance structure with top, middle, and base notes.
- Roll-On Essential Oil Concentration
- The total essential oil concentration must be maintained between 3%-5% to ensure safety and efficacy.
- The carrier oil must be a natural plant-based oil (e.g., sweet almond oil, grapeseed oil, coconut oil).
- Fragrance Layering:
- Top Notes (15%-30%): Light and fresh initial impressions of the fragrance.
- Middle Notes (30%-50%): Core fragrance notes that create a calming and relaxing atmosphere.
- Base Notes (20%-40%): Provide lasting depth and stabilize the overall fragrance.
- Blending and Maturation:
- Essential oils and carrier oils must be thoroughly mixed. Once blended, the formulation should rest for 24-48 hours to ensure even fragrance distribution and optimal effectiveness.
(2) Roll-On Bottle and Diffuser Stone Design Guidelines
- Roll-On Bottle Requirements
- Bottles must have a 10mL capacity and be made of amber glass for light protection and stability.
- Rollers must be made of stainless steel to ensure smooth application.
- Diffuser Stone
- The organizer will provide diffuser stones, sized between 5-7cm in diameter, made from ceramic or plaster material with strong absorption capabilities for stable diffusion of the essential oil fragrance.
- Each entry will be paired with a diffuser stone labeled with the participant’s number for evaluation.
- Competition Process
(1) Pre-Competition Preparation
- Submission of Entries
- Participants must submit their roll-on essential oil and formula description to the designated location at least 1 hour before the competition begins.
(2) Display and Judging Process
- Display of Entries:
- The organizer will arrange entries and formula descriptions based on participant numbers. Staff will extract a small amount of the roll-on oil (approximately 0.05-0.1mL) and evenly apply it to the diffuser stone surface.
- Judges will evaluate the entries by smelling the diffuser stones based on the established criteria. Participants are not required to perform any on-site operations, as the assessment will be based on submitted entries.
(3) Retrieval of Entries
- Collection After Judging:
- Participants may collect their entries at the designated location by 5:00 PM on the competition day.
- Participants must present their entry numbers for identification. Any unclaimed entries will be handled by the organizer.
- Formula Description Requirements
- Printing Standards: Formula descriptions must be printed on A4 paper, with clear and complete content.
- Content Requirements: Templates can be found in the appendix of the rules document.
