(A1L) Aromatherapy - The Art of Gender in Scent

  1. The Art of Gender in Scent — Men’s Fragrance × Women’s Fragrance


    ● Competition Objective

    Through this live scent-blending challenge, participants will be assessed on their understanding of essential oil aromas, blending skills, and artistic creativity.
    Within the given time, participants must create two perfumes, each representing the olfactory characteristics of “masculinity” and “femininity.”
    The aim of this event is to explore the “art of gender” in scent — the balance between softness and strength, yin and yang, warmth and power.


    ● Theme Concept

    Women’s Perfume — LUNA Soft Glow

    Based on floral and citrus notes, expressing gentleness, inclusiveness, and inner strength.
    → Soft yet radiant, carrying the delicate energy of the moon.

    Men’s Perfume — SOLAR Power

    Built on woody and balsamic notes, expressing stability, resilience, and independence.
    → Powerful within the light, like the sun’s heat and intensity.


    ● Competition Details

    • Competition Time: 30 minutes

    • Work Requirements: Create two perfume blends (each in a 10ml spray bottle)

      • Men’s Perfume (Solar)

      • Women’s Perfume (Luna)

    • Ingredients: Each perfume must use 3–5 different essential oils

    • Base: Unscented alcohol or perfume base liquid

    • Work Description: Each perfume must be named, and participants must complete a creation description card (including theme concept and scent characteristics)


    ● Participants Must Bring

    • Blending tools: droppers, stirring rods, small bottles, markers, label stickers

    • Materials: unscented base liquid, various essential oils

    • Supporting items: towel, gloves, notebook, scent strips, blending bottles, alcohol wipes, tissues, description cards


    ● Disqualification Rules

    • Exceeding time limit (over 30 minutes)

    • Using non-natural substances (e.g., fragrance oils, synthetic scents)

    • Missing description card or incomplete naming/theme explanation

    • Unsafe or messy operation: spills, disorganized workspace

    • Plagiarism or copying others’ work or information

(A1L) Aromatherapy - Facial Treatment

  1. Competition Objective

The objective is to assess participants’ comprehensive skills in essential oil selection and formulation logic, massage techniques, facial cleansing, skincare application, and achieving immediate results. Participants will use carrier oils provided by the organizer and essential oils of their own choice to complete basic cleansing, aromatherapy massage, and subsequent skincare.

  1. Scoring Criteria
  • Cleansing and Skincare Performance: The suitability of the formulation to the scenario and the clarity of the selection logic.
  • Blending Precision and Technical Performance: The accuracy of proportions, the adherence to blending standards, and the effectiveness of the care oil.
  • Expression and Creativity: Completeness of the formulation description and the reflection of professionalism and innovation.
  1. Competition Rules

(1) Competition Content

  1. Basic Cleansing: Thorough facial cleansing, appropriate use of skincare products, and standardized techniques.
  2. Essential Oil Blending and Massage: Scientifically balanced proportions of essential oils and carrier oils, paired with smooth and comfortable massage techniques.
  3. Immediate Results and Treatment Report: Immediate improvements in the model’s skin condition and mood, with a comprehensive and clear treatment report.

(2) Competition Time

  • The competition duration is 30 minutes. All actions must be completed within the time limit.

(3) Model Positioning and Work Environment

  1. Model Positioning: The model should recline with their head resting on a chair back, feet placed on another chair, maintaining a relaxed and comfortable position throughout the process.
  2. Participant Positioning: Participants must stand behind the model’s head (no obstructions between the participant and the model’s head) and adjust their posture as necessary.

(4) Contestant Grooming Requirements

  1. Dress Code: Participants must wear the organizer-provided uniform top with appropriate pants and shoes to maintain a professional appearance.
  2. Hair Requirements: Hair must be neatly groomed. If long, it should be tied up to ensure cleanliness and professionalism.
  3. Overall Appearance: A clean and tidy appearance is mandatory. Excessive accessories or heavy makeup are not allowed to maintain a professional image.

(5) Essential Oil Requirements

  1. Essential Oil Variety:
  • Participants must provide their own essential oils (no limit on quantity).
  1. Essential Oil Usage Rules:
  • Concentration Limits: The care oil concentration must not exceed 2%, and any skincare product containing essential oils must not exceed 0.5%.
  • Usage Restrictions: Undiluted essential oils must not be applied directly to the model’s skin.
  • Record Requirements: Participants must record the proportions and functions of each essential oil used, displayed on the model’s data card.
  • Blending Recommendations: At least two essential oils should be used to demonstrate the aromatherapist’s blending skills and functional logic.

(6) Moisturization Requirements

  1. Type of Products:
  • Moisturizing: Moisturizing lotion or cream.
  • Repairing: Soothing serums or repair creams.
  • Protective: Lightweight sunscreen.
  1. Selection Guidelines:
  • Participants must select products based on the model’s skin type and specific concerns (e.g., oil control for oily skin, high hydration for dry skin).
  1. Application Standards:
  • Products must be applied evenly, with additional care for problem areas (e.g., dryness, sensitivity).
  • Application techniques must be gentle, avoiding irritation or pressure on the skin.

(7) Tools and Products

  1. Carrier Oils Provided by Organizer:
  • Sweet Almond Oil, Sunflower Seed Oil, Coconut Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Olive Oil.
  1. Tools:
  • Small Towels (3-5, white): For facial cleansing and product removal; recommended size 30cm × 30cm.
  • Large Towels (1-2, white): To cover the model’s shoulders and chest, preventing skincare products from staining clothing; recommended size 70cm × 140cm.
  • Waste Disposal: Small trash bins or boxes for discarded cotton pads, with a recommended capacity of 3-5 liters.
  • Other Tools: Treatment bowls, digital scales, droppers, small measuring cups or bottles, stirring rods, cleansing sponges.
  1. Products: Essential oils, facial cleansers, makeup removers or cleansing balms, moisturizers, serums, sunscreens.
  2. Water Supply: Participants must bring at least 2 liters of water for cleansing steps (e.g., makeup removal, facial cleansing, mask removal). Water must be stored in sealed containers (e.g., water bottles, mineral water bottles).
  1. Model Requirements

(1) Model Conditions

Participants must bring their own models. Models must be female with healthy skin and no severe sensitivity or allergic reactions.

  • Models should wear light makeup upon arrival (including foundation, eyebrows, eye makeup, and lipstick) to evaluate participants’ cleansing ability.

(2) Model Clothing

  1. Style Requirements:
  • Models should wear simple and elegant clothing (e.g., plain dresses or shirts and trousers) that is appropriate and presentable.
  1. Prohibited Attire:
  • Models must not wear bright colors or patterned clothing, hats, or any accessories that obscure the face.
  1. Safety and Hygiene

(1) Tools and Products

  1. All tools must be sanitized before and after the competition to ensure no cross-contamination risks.
  2. All skincare products used must comply with safety standards and be suitable for the model’s skin type.

(2) Model Protection

  1. Participants must ensure appropriate product quantities are used to avoid overloading or discomfort for the model.

(3) Work Area Cleanliness

  1. Contestants must ensure that their workstations (tables and chairs) are tidy, with no tools, products, or waste left behind.
  2. After the competition, contestants should promptly clean up their tools and products and restore the workstation to a tidy condition.
  1. Competition Process

(1) Pre-Competition Preparation

  1. Contestant and Model Check-in:
  • Contestants must arrive at the designated area with their model at least 15 minutes before the competition starts for check-in.

(2) Competition Segment

  1. Competition Start: Contestants have 30 minutes to complete all actions.
  2. Competition End: Contestants must stop immediately when time is up. Any unfinished work will not be counted in the scoring.

(3) Model Presentation

  1. Contestants are not required to move the model. The model should remain standing or sitting in their original position while waiting for evaluation by the judges.

  3. The card must be printed on A4-sized paper with clear text and placed prominently on the workstation.
