(M5P) Make Up Artistry - Floral New Chinese Hairstyles

  1. Competition Objective
    • To test the comprehensive abilities of contestants in hairstyling techniques, floral arrangement, cultural interpretation, and creative composition. Through a hairstyle design on a mannequin head under the theme “Floral New Chinese,” contestants are required to apply professional skills and artistic imagination to create a hairstyle that elegantly blends traditional Chinese aesthetics with modern sensibilities, featuring floral elements as a central focus.
  2. Scoring Criteria
  • Hairstyling Technique:
    • Exquisite detail handling, clean partings, and smooth, well-executed lines.
    • Skillful and secure application of hairpieces, accessories, and floral elements.
    • The complexity, structural integrity, and overall finish of the hairstyle.
  • Creativity & Theme Adherence:
    • How well the design adheres to the “Floral New Chinese” theme, effectively conveying a fusion of tradition and modernity.
    • The novelty, uniqueness, originality, and artistic expression of the design concept.
    • The interpretation of Chinese cultural elements within the hairstyle.
  • Floral Integration & Composition:
    • Creative and harmonious integration of floral elements (fresh, preserved, or artificial).
    • The choice of flowers and colors and how they complement the hairstyle and theme.
    • A balanced, well-proportioned, and aesthetically pleasing overall composition.
  1. Competition Rules

(1) Competition Content

    1. Theme: Contestants must create a design based on the “Floral New Chinese Hairstyle” theme. The style should be elegant, innovative, and culturally rich.
    2. Medium: The artwork must be completed on a standard hairstyling mannequin head.
    3. Materials: Various hairstyling products (e.g., hairspray, gel), tools, hair extensions, floral materials (fresh, preserved, or high-quality artificial), and other decorative hair accessories may be used. However, all materials must be securely affixed and integrated into the hairstyle.

(2) Prohibitions

    1. Do not add the contestant’s name, logo, or any other identifying marks on the mannequin head or its presentation that could compromise anonymous judging.
    2. Do not submit photographic or descriptive content that is inconsistent with the actual completed hairstyle.
    3. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited. All designs must be original creations of the contestant.
  1. Mannequin Head Requirements

 (1) Medium Conditions

    • Contestants must provide their own standard hairstyling mannequin head.
    • The mannequin head must be clean, undamaged, and in good condition to ensure the best presentation results. Basic, neutral makeup on the mannequin is permitted but should not detract from the hairstyle.
  1. Competition Process

(1) Submission and Display

    1. Contestants must submit their completed mannequin head to the designated area at least 1 hour before the start of the competition on the event day. Late submissions will be considered a withdrawal from the competition.
    2. After submission, the organizer will assign a number to each entry. Contestants must not add any personal identifiers.
    3. The judges will evaluate the entries based on the scoring criteria, assessing their technical skill, creativity, and overall presentation.

(2) Entry Retrieval

    1. After the judging is completed on the competition day, contestants can retrieve their mannequin head at the designated location at 5:00 PM.
    2. Contestants must present their competition number to verify their identity and retrieve their entry. Any unclaimed entries will be handled by the organizer.

(M5P) Make Up Artistry - “Finger Wave” Vintage Chinese Bridal Mannequin Head Design

  1. Competition Objective

This competition assesses participants’ professional skills in hairstyling techniques, creative expression, and overall styling coordination. Participants must create a hairstyle based on the vintage Chinese bridal theme, utilizing finger wave techniques and incorporating suitable decorations to present an elegant and refined overall design.

  1. Scoring Criteria
  • Hairstyle Design and Creativity: Assessment of whether the hairstyle showcases the elegance and refinement of a vintage Chinese bridal look, with creativity and alignment with the theme.
  • Finger Wave Technique and Details: Evaluation of the smoothness and natural flow of the finger wave pattern, clarity of layers, and precision in detail execution.
  • Decoration and Coordination: Judgement of whether the hairstyle complements the chosen accessories (e.g., hairpins, pearls, tassels) and enhances the overall beauty of the design.
  • Overall Visual Appeal: Assessment of whether the design delivers visual impact and exhibits harmony and completeness in the overall aesthetic.

(1) Competition Content

  1. Hairstyle Theme: Participants must create a hairstyle based on the “Vintage Chinese Bridal” theme, emphasizing the fusion of finger wave techniques with traditional elements.
  2. Technical Requirements:
  • Finger Wave Texture: The waves must be smooth, natural, and well-defined with clear layers.
  • Overall Styling: The hairstyle must have stable shaping, reasonable structure, and no visible messiness or loose areas.
  1. Decoration Coordination: Suitable accessories (e.g., hairpins, tassels, pearls) may be incorporated but must align with the hairstyle theme and overall style.

(2) Prohibited Actions

  1. The use of severely damaged mannequin heads is prohibited.
  2. Plagiarism is prohibited.
  3. Accessories or hairstyle elements that do not align with the vintage Chinese theme (e.g., modern exaggerated styles) are not prohibited.
  1. Mannequin Head Specifications

(1) Material

  • The material of the mannequin head hair is not restricted (e.g., human hair, goat hair, heat-resistant synthetic fibers, etc.). Contestants may freely choose the material that suits the competition requirements.
  • The chosen material must support hairstyling and decoration while offering excellent display effects.

(2) Head Shape

  • The mannequin head must have natural proportions, with no obvious damage to the scalp, allowing for effective styling design and evaluation.

(3) Stand

  • The mannequin head must be equipped with a stable stand that can be adjusted to a height range of 100 cm to 150 cm, ensuring it is secure and suitable for display.

(4) Cleanliness

  • The mannequin head must be clean and free from oil, dye residue, or other impurities.

(5) Hair Length

  • The hair length must be suitable for finger wave techniques, with medium to long hair recommended to ensure design integrity and visual impact.

(6) Decorations and Styling

  • Accessories should highlight the Chinese bridal theme (e.g., pearls, tassels, hairpins) without being overly dominant.
  • All decorations must enhance the design’s harmony and aesthetics without obscuring the primary hairstyle.
  1. Competition Process

(1) Pre-Competition Preparation

  1. Contestants must complete the mannequin head creation before the competition day.
  2. Ensure that the work is clean and neat, and that the mannequin head and stand are stable and undamaged before submission.

(2) Submission and Display

  1. On the day of the competition, contestants must submit their mannequin head work to the designated location at least 1 hour before the start of the competition. Late submissions will be considered as withdrawal from the competition. Once submitted, no further changes can be made to the work.
  2. After submission, the organizer will assign a unique number sticker to each entry based on the contestant’s number and will arrange the mannequin heads accordingly. Contestants are not required to be present for this.
  3. The judges will evaluate the work based on the scoring criteria, assessing the technical, creative, and overall performance.

(3) Work Retrieval

  1. After the judging process is complete, contestants may collect their mannequin head work from the designated location at 5:00 PM.
  2. Contestants must show their contestant number to verify their identity and retrieve their work. Any works not picked up by the deadline will be handled by the organizer.
